The Iron Maidens
Legs Electric, Badlands Bar, Perth, Sun 03 June 2018
Opening for the sold Iron Maidens Perth gig local act Legs Electric well and truly warmed the crowd up. Now stripped down to a four the rock n roll unit operated as a slick and lithe guitar powered machine.
Opening with a new number off their forth coming EP, the blues based slide of Elana powered the number along, fuelling expectations of the imminent release. The maximum rock n roll quartet powered into a set of their guitar fuelled standards, think ‘Strange Addiction’, ‘Wanna Riot’, ‘She’s Like A Saint’, and it was all over too soon.
Along with Kylie’s energetic drumming, Erin’s tight bass work and Ama’s powerful vocals and stage presence these rock ‘n’ roll animals come angels are sight and sound to behold. Watch out for gigs in the Perth scene before they held over East.
Hailing from Los Angles The Iron Maidens are not just a cover band but live and breathe their love of Iron Maiden’s music, manifesting itself in living the dream, touring the world and sharing their love.
This was demonstrated by the choice of intro tape, UFO’s ‘Doctor, Doctor’. Their founding bass player, Pete Way, being the inspiration for Maidens Steve Harris.
Lead by powerful voice and excellent music skills these ladies did the Maidens proud. Even Eddie made an appearance. The packed audience lapped it up. The list was the all the classic songs but we got a notable little twist. ‘Alexander the Great’ has never been played live by Iron Maiden but with the Iron Maidens you get it, and you got it if you were at Badlands Bar.
The last twist was in place of an encore we Monty Python’s ‘Always look on the Bright side of Life’.
